Portuguese team adds 100 thousand followers after a day on Chinese TikTok – Meios & Publicidade

The Portuguese football team has officially launched its official account on the social network Douyin, the TikTok app in China. The opening day at Douyin coincided with the selection for the Qatar World Cup. According to the FPF, Portugal’s official account attracted more than 100,000 followers in 24 hours, setting a new growth record for a sports team on the platform.

The hashtag #Portugal launched on Douyin was used by almost 40 million fans, rising to the top of the platform’s trend ranking. “Hundreds of Douyin bloggers and influencers released videos and shared various content to welcome the arrival of the Portuguese team”, says the FPF, in a statement. Nuno Moura, marketing director at FPF, adds that “Douyin will allow us to deepen the connection with millions of young fans in China who, despite the distance, are incessantly cheering and getting involved with our teams”.
