The Porsche Taycan, the little sister of the previously introduced Taycan Turbo S, Taycan Turbo and Taycan 4S models, is available in two performance levels, 326 and 380 hp. The two versions of the entry model, which can be ordered with two battery packs, are capable of peak power of 408 and 476 horsepower, respectively, for a short time.
The entry-level model has received all the improvements that Porsche has meanwhile introduced to other members of the model family, including the Plug & Charge feature, which automates the charging and payment process.
The range of optional accessories is the same as on the larger models, from the color head-up display to the 22 kW on-board charger to the driver support and convenience features that can be purchased (activated) per item.
The smaller battery has a gross capacity of 79.2 kWh; as an option, a two-level battery pack with a capacity of 93.4 kWh is available on request. The WLTP range is 431 and 484 kilometers, respectively. Regardless of the battery, the car accelerates to 100 km / h in 5.4 seconds, with a top speed of 230 km / h on both models. The smaller battery can be charged with 225 kW and the larger 270 kW: both versions can be charged from 5% to 80% in 22.5 minutes, we can draw enough power for 100 km in 5 minutes – already if we find a charging point with such power.
The electric motor has been omitted from the front axle of the Taycan base model, the rear drive unit is the same as the Taycan S electric motor. The power transmission is two-stage, the fluid resistance coefficient is 0.22. The system recovers braking energy with 265 kW.
The entry model distinguishes itself with black calipers and 19-inch wheels, the aerodynamic elements (front apron, sills and diffuser) are the same as those used by the Taycan 4S.
The passenger compartment has eight-way comfort seats with partially leather upholstery, but a completely leather-free interior is also available, in which case eco-up made from recycled materials is used.
Adaptive damping is a basic price, paid for air suspension, which increases the ground clearance in pre-programmed geographical coordinates.
The first copies of the rear-wheel-drive Taycan will go on sale in March.
