Paris. Mathias Pogba has been charged and is in custody for blackmailing his younger brother, Juventus player Paul Pogba.

This is according to sources close to the case.

– We are going to challenge this decision, says Yassine Bouzrou, who is Mathias Pogba’s lawyer.

He insists his client has committed no crime.

A source in the judicial system also says that four other people have also been charged and detained in the case. They are between 27 and 32 years old.

They are all close to the Pogba brothers.

32-year-old Mathias Pogba has admitted that he is behind a video that was posted online on August 27. The video promised “big revelations” about the 29-year-old Juventus player.

Paul Pogba, who also plays in the French national team, reported the case to Italian authorities on July 16. Here he said that he had been blackmailed for 13 million euros – equivalent to around DKK 96.7 million.

Sources close to the Pogba family say that Paul Pogba has been demanded large sums of money if he wants to avoid allegedly compromising videos being spread.

Paul Pogba has told investigators that those blackmailing him want to discredit him by claiming he asked a so-called marabout, a Muslim religious leader, to curse Paris Saint-German star Kylian Mbappe.

Paul Pogba denies having done that.

The investigation into the case started on September 2. Several people – including Pogba’s mother – have already been questioned in the case.

The French international is currently nursing a knee injury and has not been on the pitch this season.
