PlayStation prepared a pretty big surprise for Tuesday night that many probably didn’t expect. More or less out of the blue, the company announced the PC version of another console exclusive – Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which originally stole the hearts of many gamers in 2021, including Pavel Makal in his ten review.
This is a big step for the brand, as it recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, and Rift Apart will be its first ever title to take a look at the platform. And considering its qualities and the fact that it offers a separate story, it was probably not possible to choose a better part for the premiere.
The PC port is being worked on by studio Nixxes Software, which last year quite successfully entered the memory of players with the conversions of Spider-Man and Miles Morales. Which means the PC variant should be in good hands.
As is usual with such conversions, the creators once again appeal to the possibility of using various modern technologies, such as Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 2 or Intel XeSS. Naturally, there must also be support for wide-angle monitors and sets with multiple screens (aspect ratio 21:9, 32:9 and 48:9), or such obvious things as control with the help of a keyboard and mouse. But if you want, you can also use the DualSense controller with its special functions. You will also find an unlocked framerate here for maximum smooth gameplay.
The various setting options will not be stingy either, with which you can customize the game so that it works without major problems on your set as well. But if you have a decent machine, you can use improved ray tracing. Unfortunately, the recommended hardware requirements have not yet been introduced. But it can be assumed that they will not be completely small.
The release date for the PC version is set for July 26. It will be available on Steam i Epic. If you pre-order the game, you will get access to bonuses in the form of unique armor and weapons. The good news is that this variant already includes all the armor from the digital deluxe version of the game for PlayStation 5, which will also complement the anniversary pack, which will add another five.
But in the end, one has to wonder why PlayStation didn’t present this port already last week during the PlayStation Showcase. Sure, maybe such an announcement would fit in better, but I venture to speculate that the whole event would be remembered in a somewhat more positive light.
