Pinová’s new court map was supported in the statement by only one judge – Domestic – News

Minister of Justice Mária Kolíková

The head of the Ministry of Justice, Mária Kolíková (For the People), does not understand the activity of Marcela Kosová, a member of the Judicial Council and a judge of the Regional Court in Bratislava, who delivered a statement in support of the new court map.

The declaration was supported by the signature of one judge. “It is probably difficult to believe the sincerity of the intention if the letter in support of the court map is sent by someone who has been a critic of it from the beginning,” the minister said.

Kolíková does not see the reason why she should comment on this intention. “I am more in favor of a normal constructive discussion free from the build-up of unnecessary emotions, and as before, I want to continue to have a normal discussion with everyone who wants such a normal discussion,” she emphasized.

He also welcomes the judges’ interest in the debate. “I look forward to further meetings and discussions with them in the coming days, which we have prepared for the court map,” the minister added.

The statement states, inter alia, that the undersigned Judges agree with the draft court map and are convinced that the proposed amendment will ensure the declared objectives and respect the conclusions and recommendations of the European Commission for Effective Justice.

Kosovo is not only a critic of the court map, but also a signatory of the Lawyers for the Rule of Law call, which was published in January. In contrast, judges and lawyers criticize the judicial map and call for the strict rule of law. This call was signed by 430 judges, lawyers and members of the legal professions.
