Pertalite and Solar Consumption Increase, Pertamina Guarantees Availability – PT Pertamina (Persero) through its subsidiary PT Pertamina Patra Niaga ensures the availability of supplies of Pertalite and Diesel fuel oil in safe conditions and the distribution process is carried out optimally.

Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Irto Ginting said the economic growth and community activities that began to stretch have an impact on increasing energy needs.

“The average daily consumption of national fuel in 2022 is already higher than the normal daily consumption before the pandemic in 2019. To anticipate the high demand, we make sure the stock is in a safe condition and we will maximize distribution to gas stations,” said Irto in Jakarta, Saturday (20/8/2022).

As of August 19, 2022, Pertamina claims that the stock for Pertalite and Solar is more than 19 days and production continues to meet the energy needs of the community.

The distribution process and stock conditions at gas stations will also continue to be monitored in real time through the Pertamina Integrated Command Center (PICC), so that gas stations whose stock has been limited to a minimum can be immediately re-supplied.

“So people don’t need to worry. We urge people to continue to buy fuel according to their needs,” said Irto.

Gadjah Mada University economist Fahmy Radhi views that the burden on the state budget for subsidies will increase if the Pertalite quota, which was originally set at 23 thousand kiloliters, runs out before the end of this year.

According to him, the option to increase the price of subsidized fuel is not the right choice at this time because the increase in the price of Pertalite and Solar with the proportion of consumers above 70 percent is projected to trigger inflation.

If the increase in Pertalite reaches Rp. 10,000 per liter, the contribution to inflation is estimated to reach 0.97 percent, so that inflation for the current year can reach 6.2 percent year on year.

“With inflation of that size, it will reduce people’s purchasing power and consumption so that it will reduce economic growth which has reached 5.4 percent. So that the momentum of economic achievement is not disrupted, the government should not increase the price of Pertalite and Solar this year,” concluded Fahmy.
