Mini solar power plants were put into operation on high school buildings in the area of East Sarajevo, which were set up within the project “Let’s save energy together”, which was financed through the Development Cooperation Program of the Czech Republic, and realized through the City Development Agency.
Mini solar plants have been installed on the roof structures of schools from Sokolac, Pale, East New Sarajevo and East Ilidža.
The mayor of East Sarajevo, Ljubisa Cosic, said that the value of this project is close to 50,000 KM, and that it is one of the two projects supported by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in BiH.
He stated that he is sure that this project will be a signpost that similar projects are being implemented in the future in secondary, primary and preschool schools, all in order to save money and energy.
The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to BiH, Ivana Hlavsova, pointed out that the development cooperation of the Czech Republic with all levels of government in BiH is very important, and that the Embassy of the Czech Republic financially supports two or three small local projects every year.
– This is the first project that we are implementing in cooperation with the city of East Sarajevo and I am glad that it has been successfully completed. I hope that the savings that will be achieved by installing solar panels will contribute to the investment in further development of schools and energy efficiency – said Hlavsova.
Branka Kovačević, Director of SSC “Istočna Ilidža”, expressed her satisfaction that the City Development Agency and the Embassy recognized the needs of schools and realized this important project.
