Packaging company Huhtamaki fell victim to cyber attack – IS: 150 gigabytes of data for criminals


Finnish manufacturer of packaging and disposable tableware Huhtamäki has been the victim of cybercrime, reports Ilta-Sanomat. Huhtamaki’s Director of Media Relations Katariina Hietaranta confirmed to IS that the company ‘s foreign unit had been compromised.

The perpetrator is suspected cybercrime group Everest, which has said it exported up to 150 gigabytes of data from Huhtamaki. Hietaranta confirmed to IS that the amount was in line with their perception.

The sandy beach did not confirm the quality of the stolen data, but Everest said the stolen data includes customer and employee data, technical data, and banking and financial documents.

According to Hietaranta, who commented to IS, the company’s operations and security of supply have not been threatened and no ransom claims have been made. The matter is still being investigated.
