On Wednesday, the Dakar caravan moved to the Al Ula bivouac with a stage measuring 583 kilometers. The 342 km long special stage was very difficult to navigate, but otherwise fast on rocky pistons.
David Pabiška from the Jantar Team came to the finish line in 38th place and improved to 31st place overall.
In the order of Original by Motul, David arrived the stage in 5th place, but also two stages before the end he holds the 4th place in the overall ranking of the category.
“Navigation was extremely challenging today and my two-year navigation break was full. I experienced many stages with complex and difficult navigation, but never 370 kilometers long.
I wandered a lot, the way one concentrates on it, so of course the speed is noticeably slow, so for me today I am satisfied that I am at the finish line without penalty. I’m just praying that it won’t be the same tomorrow, “said Pabiška after the stage.
Rudolf Lhotský set the 46th time today, which meant 9th place in Original by Motul. He ranks 43rd overall and Original by Motul holds 9th place.
“Today’s stage was one of the simpler ones in terms of driving, but it was very difficult to navigate. In the morning I overtook a few opponents, but then I fell in Fesh-fesh, hit my head and got out of it for another 100 kilometers. It wasn’t pleasant. The penultimate stage will take the competitors to Yanbu. The stage was originally supposed to measure 511 kilometers, but was shortened to 466 km due to the weather in the area in recent days, when rain flooded the roads. Crossings cover another 134 kilometers.
