Oxygen Cylinder Importer Will Not Be Difficult

Suara.com – Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi will not provide obstacles for importers who want to import oxygen in packaging from outside to the country for medical activities, especially for Covid-19 patients.

The reason, Lutfi admits, is that medical oxygen is needed amidst the increasing number of cases corona daily.

According to him, the import of oxygen is one of the goods requested by BNPB so that its activities are not hindered by regulations.

“I make sure this oxygen is included in the list and hopefully there will be no problems for procurement activities. Especially at national borders, so that means from outside Indonesia,” said Lutfi in a virtual press conference, Monday (5/7/2021).

The former Indonesian Ambassador to the US also welcomes any importers who want to import medical oxygen, and the permit processing will be made easier.

“So we have promised this. This has become an exception or has been allowed since the first time BNPB regulates this PPKM issue,” explained Lutfi.

Lutfi added that currently there are several imports of oxygen for medical purposes. Even some others are already on their way to the country.

“It’s already been done from Taiwan. So the Ministry of Trade ensures that all incoming goods list what BNPB requested a year ago will enter the customs area, there are no obstacles,” he said.

To note, in the aftermath of the issue of scarce oxygen, the government imported 6 cubic meters of oxygen cylinders for COVID-19 patients. The oxygen cylinders are to serve Covid-19 patients in various hospital emergency treatment rooms in a number of areas.
