In China, Oppo has presented its new Watch 3 smartwatch, and it is the first smartwatch to hit the market with the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset from Qualcomm. The circuit is specially developed for so-called wearables such as smart watches.
In addition to using a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1, the Oppo Watch 3 offers an amoled screen of 1.75 inches with a resolution of 372×430 pixels, 1 gigabyte of working memory, 32 gigabytes of storage and a battery of 400 mAh that should be able to be charged in 60 minutes.
The watch also has a proprietary Apollo 4 processor that should give the watch longer battery life by taking care of low-intensity tasks. According to Oppo themselves, the battery life should be up to four days with everything activated, and up to ten days with light use.
Other functions and features include Bluetooth 5.0, support for e-SIM, NFC, positioning with GPS, GLONASS and Galileo, as well as water resistance to five atmospheres.
Oppo has also presented a Pro version of the Watch 3 where the main differences are that it is larger and with a more high-resolution screen – 1.91 inches with a resolution of 378×496 pixels. It also has a different type of screen, specifically an OLED screen with LTPO, which may be one of the reasons for the better battery life. The Pro version should have a battery life of up to five days with everything activated and up to 15 days with lighter use.
The Oppo Watch 3 will be released on August 19 in China and at the moment there is no word on an international launch. In that case, there may be a question of releasing it with Wear OS instead of, as now, a separate operating system.
