OPPO is coming to Slovakia. What does all this mean for customers?

At the end of June 2021, an interesting thing happened in the world of smartphones. The OPPO brand has officially decided to enter the Slovak market. What news will this step bring, and what exactly does it mean for customers, we found out directly through the Slovak representation of this company. Libor Svitok, OPPO Sales Director, OPPO Slovakia answered our questions.

OPPO is an unknown brand for Slovaks. Tell us something about the history of the company.

OPPO is currently the fourth largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. The company was founded in 2004, first as a manufacturer of MP3 players. Then it began to focus on smartphones and other technologies. Since 2010, it has gradually expanded from its home market to the world. And at the end of June, it officially entered the Slovak, Czech and Hungarian markets at the same time.

What models does OPPO currently offer in Slovakia?

There are currently two 5G mid-range smartphones available, OPPO Reno5 5G and OPPO Reno5 Z. OPPO Enco Air headphones are also on sale.

Will there be any flagships in the future?

Currently, even with regard to the highly competitive environment, we cannot confirm our exact product plans for the future. However, we regularly present flagships in global markets. We sincerely believe that this will be the case in our market in the future.

OPPO wants to get married in Slovakiahit on 5G models. Will they have support from operators?

Yes, the currently mentioned Reno5 series smartphones already have full support from the three largest Slovak operators. In the future, most of our phones will support 5G.

What steps is OPPO taking in connection with ecology?

Not only thanks to our corporate colors, we take many steps in this area. We have recently presented a detailed report on this topic. For example, OPPO has long been working to reduce the amount of plastics used, the water used in production or to easily replace and repair phones. Furthermore, we also try to reduce the amount of waste produced through efficient recycling. Those areas where we work on the so-called green innovation, there are really many. Tell us something about the ColorOS superstructure, what is it and what functions does it offer?

ColorOS is a unique superstructure on Android with full use of Google services. It contains a number of above-standard functions, from the possibility of customizing the user to advanced game modes. It also controls, for example, a special player and private mode. ColorOS is tuned in terms of ease of use and smooth operation of the phone.

What is the goal of OPPO in Slovakia? Who he wants to compete with?

OPPO is a very strong and ambitious brand globally. It will be no different in Slovakia. However, we are not just talking about the fastest possible growth in brand sales. First, consumers need to understand our unique offerings and brand facilities, which are significantly different from most competitors in the market. Which is also our first task. Introduce the tag to the end user. Subsequently, we will work to make the brand as popular as in other markets and achieve a very strong position in the Slovak market. Due to the fact that the OPPO brand is a premium and innovative manufacturer of technologies, our main competitors will be mainly brands that are strong in this area.

What about software support? How long will the newly introduced models receive updates?

For the currently introduced OPPO models, it will certainly provide software support for two higher versions of Android. Continuous security updates are then a matter of course.

What about closer cooperation between OPPO and OnePlus? Can we expect the superstructures to merge into one?

The current negotiations on closer cooperation between the two companies are still ongoing and it is therefore not possible to specify the exact form of future cooperation and coexistence. So far, research cooperation in particular has been strengthened.

How do you want to attract or differentiate yourself from the competition, which is relatively strong?

In the field of smartphones, it is certainly the support of 5G, quality and innovative workshop processing, quality cameras or our own patented technology of super fast charging SuperVOOC.

What benefits will the fact that there is a local representation bring to customers in Slovakia?

The advantage for end customers is a whole range. First of all, it is the easy availability of phones offered by major operators and retailers. Related to this is a broad local testing of all GSM networks, including 4G and 5G. Then set up comprehensive services and local service, which customers will appreciate in case of repairs. I would also mention the full location of our communication channels and, for example, the launch of the customer line. The advantage is also certainly faster and more accurate information and service towards journalists and the media.
