Opel Zafira-e Life Crosscamp Flex

The German Crosscamp is a relatively young player in the campervan market, but at the same time, through its parent company, Hymer, it has several decades of experience in the construction of motorhomes.

The company’s specialty is camping buses built from PSA (now Stellantis) compact buses, Toyota Proace Verso, and Opel Zafira Life. In the first round, they went for the diesel variants, but now the electric version is also ready – it exists from both Toyota and Opel, here we present the Opel, but the two are 100% the same.

On the road, the rebuilt model knows the same things as any Stellantis electric minibus: a range of up to 322 kilometers, can be charged from 100 kW to 80% in 48 minutes, 75 kWh battery, 136 hp, 230 Nm electric motor, 130 km /hour, reduced top speed. No emissions, no engine noise.

The Crosscamp Flex (because this is the name of the vehicle that currently only exists as a prototype) also received a second battery, although it is much smaller: the 95 ampere-hour unit can be used to power the on-board consumers – the lighting, the refrigerator and the USB sockets for charging electronic devices.

In addition, the front seats can be turned back 180 degrees, there is also a kitchenette, sink, gas stove and kitchen cabinet. There is a tank for drinking water and gray water – however, since a water block does not fit on such a large floor area, no waste water is generated on board.

We cannot bathe in the electric camping bus, but up to four people can sleep: two on the converted seats, two under the openable roof.

According to the plans, the emission-free motor home will be available from 2023, and later it will also be offered in the Crosscamp Lite version: this is the two-person version of the Crosscamp without furniture, equipped with a pull-out cooking unit.
