The fourteen-year-old boy behind the wheel and four other teenagers were driving in Seredi last Friday (18/5) in a BMW car when they were stopped by city police officers.
The boy used the car without his parents’ consent, according to the law he is already criminally responsible and met the signs of the offense of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. However, during the interrogation, the parents did not give their consent to prosecute him, so the police will postpone the case in accordance with the law. The regional police spokeswoman in Trnava, Mária Linkešová, informed about it.
The spokeswoman added that although the law does not allow a minor to be affected, the owner of the vehicle or the person who entrusted the vehicle to him takes responsibility. “We warn drivers not to entrust the driving of the car to children if necessary. Persons who do not have a driver’s license do not have sufficient experience, they cannot correctly evaluate all situations and risks that lie in wait for them in road traffic,” she said.
