OnePlus 9 Pro is like wine. After a year, it makes a greater impression than on the day of its premiere

A year has passed since its premiere. In my OnePlus 9 Pro review, I called it “diamond in the rough”. I wrote this mainly in the context of many flaws in the software that wasted its otherwise large hardware potential.

In the meantime, however, it has appeared quite a lot of software updateswhich slowly eliminated problems with stability, white balance in the camera or invisible elements in the interface. OnePlus 9 Pro has even got update to Android 12which & hairsp; – & hairsp; though initially underdeveloped & hairsp; – & hairsp; has also been fixed.

I also complained about the price. On the day of the premiere, PLN 4299 for OnePlus 9 Pro was a high amount compared to the competition, but within a year the price dropped to PLN 3,199. This year’s flagships are much more expensive, but not necessarily much better. Ba & hairsp; – & hairsp; the component market crisis and inflation have made the latest models extremely expensive, and often very compromise.

It even happens that smartphones are backing up in developmentthe best example of which is … OnePlus 10 Pro. The new one, priced at PLN 4499, has a lower-quality ultra-wide-angle camera than the 9 Pro and a housing that is more susceptible to damage, and also lost the macro mode and waterproof certificate. I also like last year’s model more visually.

OnePlus 9 Pro has better equipment than many flagships from 2022

The list of the strengths of OnePlus 9 Pro includes:

  • AMOLED 1440p screen with variable refresh rate up to 120 Hz;
  • ultra wide-angle camera with a large matrix and macro mode;
  • camera with a 3.3x telephoto lens;
  • 8K recording in 30 fps and 4K in 120 fps;
  • stereo speakers;
  • fast charging wired (65 W) and wireless (50 W);
  • metal and glass housing with IP68 certificate;
  • great vibration motor.

If you wanted even a similar set in this year’s flagship, you would have to spend over PLN 5,000and there are also smartphones from this price level, which in some aspects perform worse than the OnePlus 9 Pro. Such a Xiaomi 12 Pro costs PLN 5199, and there is no macro mode, it cannot record 4K at 120 fps and has a weaker 2x telephoto lens.

The fact that OnePlus 9 Pro is a smartphone from 2021, is only revealed by Snapdragon 888. The difference is visible only on paper; in everyday use, the differences in speed compared to the latest models are practically imperceptible.

OnePlus 9 Pro still defends itself with the camera

A solid main camera has been no sensation for several years, but OnePlus also took care of the additional ones. The rarity is that the module ultra-wide angle uses the excellent IMX766 sensor. This year’s realme GT 2 Pro (PLN 3499) or OPPO Find X5 Pro (PLN 5999) have the same matrix in the main camera.

OnePlus 9 Pro provides very similar photo quality from the main and ultra wide-angle cameras. Both during the day …

… and at night.

Look for the second level with the candle in such a level. Even the newer OnePlus 10 Pro has a smaller and cheaper matrix in the additional camera, which is probably the effect of cutting costs dictated by the ongoing crisis.

The ultra-wide angle lens is also great for when taking macro photosbecause it can sharpen at close range. This is still not standard in the premium segment.

Telephoto lens 3.3x still does it in its price class. Not only his own, because the Xiaomi 12 Pro is much more expensive and has a worse zoom.

1x z OnePlusa 9 Pro:

Here’s a 20x approximation:

The zoom in the OnePlus 9 Pro significantly exceeds only the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, but this one is almost twice as expensive.

The killer feature of OnePlus 9 Pro is 4K recording at 120 fps

This is a feature that I miss in the overwhelming majority of not only last year’s but also this year’s high-end smartphones. Top Samsung or Xiaomi phones record only at 60 fps.

4K at 120 frames is a great thing. From the finished movie you can cut 1/4 of the frame, slow down image 5 times and still get sharp smooth video.

OnePlus 9 Pro is a real gem today

This smartphone hit the market just before the intensification of the industry crisis and inflation. The manufacturer implemented a lot of cool solutions that were not accepted by the competition, and parts of which he quickly gave up. In addition, the price has dropped significantly, while this year’s flagships have become ridiculously expensive.

Several factors overlapped each other that in my opinion OnePlus 9 Pro is a much better proposition today than a year ago. Currently, it is one of the best & hairsp; – & hairsp; if not the best & hairsp; – & hairsp; offers for around PLN 3,000. And OnePlus 10 Pro is completely unprofitable by his side.
