Azgar Ali was shot dead in the clash. He is a resident of Pathantuli area. Mahbub, who was shot in the clash, is undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Abdul Quader alias Mach Quader Nagar, the last councilor of Ward No. 27, is known as a follower of AJM Nasir, the general secretary of Awami League. This time the party did not nominate him but nominated Bahadur.
Bahadur is a follower of Deputy Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel. Before Quader, he was the councilor of this ward from 2000 to 2014.

I went to the election office of Rezaul Bhair (Awami League nominated mayoral candidate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury) through public relations, from there I was supposed to go to Nazirbhandar Lane. At the time, his followers led by Kader came and attacked.
The councilor candidate claimed that Babul and Mahbub were shot while trying to save him. Rebel candidate Abdul Quader could not be reached for comment.
