On Thursday, 1,539 new cases of Covid-19 infection were registered in Latvia; one person died / Day

In total, 4,469 Covid-19 tests were carried out in the laboratory during the past 24 hours, of which 34.4% were positive. Of the registered new cases of infection, 675 people were not vaccinated or had not completed the vaccination course, while 864 were vaccinated against Covid-19.

The two-week cumulative index of Covid-19 in Latvia increased slightly – from 1022.4 to 1028.7 per 100,000 inhabitants. The seven-day cumulative indicator increased insignificantly – from 523.2 to 524.5 per 100,000 inhabitants.

In the past 24 hours, a message was received about one death in the age group from 90 to 99 years. The deceased was not vaccinated against Covid-19.

In total, 5,909 people infected with Covid-19 have died in Latvia so far.

SPKC previously explained to the LETA agency that there may be discrepancies in the mortality data – they may be delayed by a month or a half. Information on deceased patients is also collected from the Cause of Death Register, where information is gathered on absolutely all deaths, including those from Covid-19, which, for example, have not been reported before. On the other hand, SPKC data is mainly from hospitals and nursing homes that report deaths. In addition, there are still a significant number of people for whom Covid-19 has been recorded as a contributing factor in the occurrence of death.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, this disease has been laboratory-confirmed in 881,020 cases in Latvia.

According to the calculations of the LETA agency, 9,839 people have been infected with Covid-19 in the last seven days.
