Prague – Laboratories in the Czech Republic confirmed 2996 new cases of covid-19 disease on Sunday, a day earlier there were roughly once as many. In a week-on-week comparison, the increase was higher by 230 confirmed cases. However, the number of patients hospitalized with coronavirus increased from 1,700 last week to almost 2,700, approximately 400 of whom are in serious condition. This was according to data on the website of the Ministry of Health.

A year ago, however, the situation in hospitals was related to patients with the new type coronavirus worse, with a confirmed covid, there were almost 7,500 people in them and over 1,100 in serious condition. Significantly more people were dying, the daily numbers of deaths these days a year ago were around two hundred. However, even in recent days, they have increased. According to the ministry, last week from 30 to 46 people died every day with a covid, while on Sunday the office still registers 12 deaths. However, this number may change at a later update. However, according to experts, the situation from last autumn or this spring should not be repeated thanks to vaccination.

Since the epidemic began last March, more than 1.8 million people have been shown to have been infected with covid. Most recovered, 31,053 people with covid died.

The number of newly infected in seven days per 100,000 inhabitants of the Czech Republic has increased from 497 to today’s 499. Among the districts, the worst situation is in the Prostějov region, where there are 1,059 confirmed cases per 100,000 people in the last week. This is followed by the district of Šumperk with 1014 cases per capita per week. On the contrary, Sokolovsko is the best with an incidence of 126.

Due to the worsening of the epidemic situation, unvaccinated pupils will be tested for covid in 31 districts today. This should apply to approximately 765,000 children, ie approximately half of primary and secondary school pupils in the Czech Republic. If they refuse to be tested and do not even have proof of suffering the disease in the last six months, they will have to have a veil for teaching. Infectivity must also be documented by teachers, who must arrange the tests themselves. Unvaccinated educators must wear a respirator in their classes from last Monday, regardless of testing. The Ministry of Health has set a seven-day outbreak of 300 cases per 100,000 population as the limit for local testing in schools.
