OMSZ: The clouds are coming – Napi.hu

Cloudy weather with several hours of sunshine is expected during the daytime hours, but in the Northern Great Plain, in the eastern half of the Northern Central Mountains, and in Western Hungary, cloud formation will become strong, and showers and thunderstorms may develop in these areas. At night, cloudiness will decrease everywhere, the sky will be clear or slightly cloudy, but more cloudy periods may still occur in the mentioned regions, the National Meteorological Service announced.

At dawn, patches of mist and fog will form in clear, wind-sheltered places. The north-west and west winds are brisk, accompanied by strong gusts in the central areas during the day, but in the vicinity of thunderstorms there may also be temporary strengthening of the wind elsewhere.

The lowest night temperature is likely to be between 8 and 15 degrees. The highest daytime temperature on Sunday will be between 19 and 25 degrees.

There is an anticyclone on the Eastern European plain, in which area there are usually few clouds and only occasional precipitation. An anticyclone also shapes the weather in most of Scandinavia. Due to the dry air and the clear night, the temperature drops below 0 degrees in a large area. On the other hand, a cyclone is swirling over the North Sea, as a result of which the weather in northwestern Europe, as well as in southern Scandinavia, Poland and Belarus due to the frontal system associated with the cyclone, is variable and often rainy.

Also, a cyclone is located over the Carpathian basin, which causes it to rain in many places in our region, and in some places thunderstorms are formed, sometimes accompanied by downpours. In Hungary, among the mountains of the Balkan Peninsula, and in several places in Northern Italy, rainfall totals exceeding 60 mm occur. The shallow cyclone will leave the Carpathian basin by Sunday evening, the sun will shine in more and more places, but local showers and thunderstorms may still occur.
