Official: These devices get Xiaomi MIUI 13 and Android 12 first

Xiaomi’s user interface MIUI comes in version 13 at the same time as Android 12. But just as simple as Xiaomi is in the process of updating its mobiles to Android 12 with MIUI 13, it is not. It has been flagged that some mobiles will get MIUI 13 but stay on Android 11. The list of devices that Xiaomi has released with therefore specifically applies to MIUI 13, although most of the devices will certainly get Android 12 on the coup also.

MIUI 13 contains some interesting news that Xiaomi also presents. For the sake of rarity, these are not just cosmetic details and clever features, but system features that improve in depth.

One such feature is called Liquid Storage. We probably all recognize that the phone gets tougher and tougher over time, and according to Xiaomi, one reason is that storage memory is fragmented by all readings and writes. Xiaomi states that after three years of use, readings and writing to memory can go up to 50 percent slower. The Liquid Storage technology ensures that this does not happen by keeping track of the memory not being fragmented, and according to Xiaomi’s measurements, it still has 95 percent read and write speeds after three years of simulated use.

The Atomized Memory function analyzes an app’s memory usage and divides the functions into critical and less critical, and shuts down the non-critical ones. In this way, each app takes up less space in the memory and the phone becomes faster.

Focused Algorithms will ensure that the processor capacity is distributed between active apps and non-dormant apps in a more efficient way than Android normally does, which makes the phone faster.

The Smart Balance function, finally, will balance performance against battery life in order to reduce the mobile’s energy consumption by 10 percent over a charging cycle.

We will not be completely without new user functions. Among other things, MIUI contains 13 widgets in more sizes, 2 × 1, 2 × 2, 2 × 3, 4 × 2, and 4 × 4 are available as options. Like many other Android manufacturers, they also introduce a side menu where you can get shortcuts to the apps you use the most.
