Official Honor V40 5G with 50MP camera and Dimensity 1000+ chipset

As expected, the Honor presented at a special event in China its first device in the post-Huawei era, the Honor V40 5G.

Although the device was developed “inside” Huawei, it does not wear a Kirin chipset but the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+. In general, we expect differences in Honor models from now on, compared to those of Huawei.

The Honor V40 has a 6.72 “screen with OLED panel and curved sides, with an oval notch to house the dual selfie camera. The screen supports 120Hz refresh rate and up to 300Hz touch sampling while it has resolution 2676×1236 pixels, due to the 19.5: 9 aspect ratio. At the back we find 3 cameras. One with sensor 50MP, size 1 / 1.56 “and 1.0μm pixel size, which becomes 2μm in 4-1 pixel binning. We also have a 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera, as laser AF. The absence of a telephoto lens indicates that the device is not aimed at the high-end market.

The V40 battery has a capacity 4.000mAh and supports ultra-fast charging 66W, which fills it in 35′. It also supports 50W wireless charging (50% in 35 ‘), performance strongly reminiscent of that of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro. What we all expected to see, though, was whether the V40 would have Google Services. Unfortunately we did not get a clear answer as it runs Android 10 with Magic UI 4.0, but as it was introduced in China, by definition it does not have the services of Google. Probably a global version of the device, however, has them.

The Honor V40 5G is already available at Night Black, Titanium Silver και Rose Gold colors in versions 8/128 GB and 8/256 GB with prices € 455 and € 505 respectively, in China.
