You can read the whole interview on the portal Sports in the area, which is operated by Sazka together with the Czech Olympic Committee.
You talk about the fact that children drive away stress with food. How much movement is related to the psyche? The psyche is most affected by the fact that they cannot compensate for stress. We’re all overloaded with computers. As we keep looking at it, we have a congested brain. So we need to carry the blood to the muscles – this is the most natural compensation for stress. If the children don’t have this, they get something good and take the blood to the digestive tract. Sugar consumes the brain and fat is stored.
It is said that the children gained two kilograms during the spring wave of the epidemic alone …
That strikes me as a bold statement. Two kilograms is a lot, especially when children lose a little muscle tissue. It would make 5 to 10 percent of their weight, and I don’t think so. But I don’t have the data. Of course, for children who struggled with weight, there could be an increase of two, three, four kilograms, but most will remain roughly the same weight. However, the muscle-fat ratio changes. It means that he suffers from fitness. What’s worse is that the children are in a period when they have to fix their movement with pleasant experiences. They are losing it, and this will have far-reaching consequences in the future.
How long before children can regain muscle mass?
Children have the advantage that the moment they start and return, it can be in the horizon of weeks – that is, for those children who already have a positive attitude towards movement. And those who were on the edge will not return to sports, for example. At that important moment, they lacked impulses, social contact. Sport is not only a burden and physical condition, but also social ties, and by that, I think, children suffer even more. They usually find some movement.
What causes a lack of exercise in the long run?
In addition to metabolic changes, it also affects, for example, the coordination of movement. In childhood, we learn coordination, we fix movement patterns. Adults who have been exempted from sports as children are more likely to fall and are injured. Lack of exercise will show up after ten to twenty years. And by not being able to remember the pleasant experiences they spent with exercise in childhood or adolescence, you will find it difficult to convince them that exercise is enjoyable. He is pleasant only to those who knew him in childhood, in youth. He who did not like him will not wake him up. I’m afraid that entire years of this generation, accustomed to computers, will have a slightly worse prognosis than we had.
