Novice athletes of the SOCHIN karate club successfully showed themselves at the championship in Ogre (3)

At the end of last week, on October 3, the 19th Open International Karate Championship 2021 was held in Ogre, in which athletes from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia took part.

The championship was held at two sites according to the WKF (World Karate Federation) rules in four disciplines: SUMO (wrestling), FANTOM (assessment of the technique of punches and kicks on a dummy), KATA (demonstration performances) and KUMITE (fights).

From the Daugavpils SOCHIN karate club, a team of 7 novice athletes competed at the championship, the president of the club said Sergey Ivanko (5 days).

Daugavpil residents showed good results:
IN SUMO Alex Samoilenko won bronze – 3rd place.

In the Phantom discipline, he also became a bronze medalist Leo Golovkin.

IN KATA Bozena Zhukova won 2nd place, and Leo Golovkin in his age category (12-13 years old) he became the owner of the 3rd place, in the category above he earned the “silver” of the championship.

Eva Malysheva and Vladislav Valainis won the “bronze”.

Combat experience at the karate championship received Sofia Nekrasha and Denis Samoilenko.

The club’s athletes are now continuing to prepare for the Latvian Championship, which will take place in Saulkrasti this Saturday, October 9th. We wish them good luck!
