This friendly and hospitable place will always make you feel at home and welcome. You can just walk the streets, visit the local markets and connect with the locals who will be happy to share their culture with you, but otherwise the city has much more to offer, especially in the summer months when it is buzzing with events and entertainment. The charming city by the Danube is said to be a city of European history and tradition and Balkan hospitality – an experience you’ve been missing.

Of course, among young Slovenians, Novi Sad is best known for good entertainment and Exit, one of the biggest music festivals in Europe. If you are a fan of music and entertainment, this is your chance to experience an unforgettable atmosphere. But before we turn to Exit, let’s try some excellent Serbian wines at the International Wine Festival Interfest.

Interfest International Wine Festival

Are you a fan of good wines and especially like to discover new winemakers? Then there is the International Wine Festival Interfestwhich will take place this year from June 15 to 17 at Trg svobode, a good reason to visit Novi Sad.

From the first idea in 2003, when the modern Serbian wine scene was still in its infancy, the organizers decided that the festival in Novi Sad would be of an international character and, from the very beginning, would place local wines in competition with wines from the region and the world. International Wine Festival Interfest in 20 years, it has developed into an important economic and tourist event and one of the favorite events of the Novi Sad audience, as well as many tourists and visitors who have been visiting it for years.

At this year’s festival, wine lovers can expect more than a hundred exhibitors and more than 500 different wine labels, both recognizable and tested as well as fresh releases. In addition to wine, distilleries from all over Serbia and producers of other spirits and liqueurs will be presented. The quality drink will be accompanied by tasty snacks, especially various cheeses, cured meats, as well as famous Vojvodina cakes and pastries.

At least two reasons why a weekend trip to Novi Sad is a good idea…

A city by the Danube

In the heat of summer, many will find a pleasant shade on one of the Danube beaches. Every local has their favorite place along the Danube. For many, this is the famous Novi Sad beach – Štrand, which in the summer is a true festival of many activities and events, including those related to folklore and gastronomy. For others, these are hidden places along the Bačka and Srem coast, such as the informal beaches on Rajski Otok near Sremski Karlovac or those at Begečka Cave. There is also Officer, then Cat’s Bank and Love Island, which are only accessible at low water and if you have a boat.

Irish Wreath or Irish Wreath

Iriški venac is the most famous road crossing and intersection on Fruška Gora. The highest pass in Vojvodina, where Partizanska cesta and the Ruma-Novi Sad main road cross, connects Novi Sad, about 20 kilometers away, with the southern parts of the country (Srem, Mačva). The sea of green areas on Venec offers many pleasures for lovers of hiking and greenery in all directions. Regardless of whether you decide to walk along the road towards Zmajevac and Vrdnik, perhaps in the opposite direction towards the TV tower or just to the Freedom Monument and the Information Center of the NP Fruška Gora, the forest will be beneficial and healing everywhere.
