Noctua Unveils Compact NH-L9i-17xx Cooler for Intel Alder Lake CPUs

Noctua has added the NH-L9i-17xx to its range of processor coolers. It is an updated version of the existing NH-L9i, which should be compatible with the larger Lga1700 processor foot of Intel’s Alder Lake chips. Like its predecessor, it is aimed at compact itx builds.

The line-up consists of the regular version and a chromax.black variant, in addition to the color scheme, these two versions are identical to each other. The modest heatsink measures 95 x 95 x 23 millimeters, the height increases to 37 mm when the supplied NF-A9x14 fan is installed. This 92mm fan does its job at a rotation speed of up to 2,500 rpm, which can be scaled down to 1,800 rpm by a low-noise adapter for those who prefer a quieter system.

NF-A9x14 HS-PWM Default Met LNA
Turning Speed 2.500 rpm 1.800 rpm
Airflow 33,84 cfm 24,01 cfm
sound production 23,6 dBA 14,8 dBA
Hydrostatic Pressure 2,11 mm H2O 1,06 mm H2o

In addition to the new cooler, Noctua has also unveiled the NA-FD1 Fan Duct Kit. According to the Austrian manufacturer, this kit should significantly improve the performance of NH-L9i and NH-L9a coolers in small form factor builds where there is a gap of 5mm or more (up to 45mm) between the cooler and a perforated top or side panel. By bridging this gap with layers of foam, the processor’s temperature can decrease by as much as 5°C (depending on the exact configuration).

The company has not provided any information regarding pricing and availability. The existing NH-L9i and NH-L9i Chromax Black are currently on sale for 48 and 53 euros respectively, the price of the new variants is expected to be close to this.
