No-recycling plastic in food packaging can be cut by up to 30% – research

To reach the target, the company says, it is necessary to limit the use of laminated cardboard dishes, as well as all types of plastic, which are not accepted by recyclers today.

As for the transportation of liquid products, plastic turned out to be more environmentally friendly than glass – carbon dioxide emissions are 0.31 kg lower when transported by cars.

“CO2 emissions from glass containers are 113 kg higher compared to plastic, based on regular delivery of one order per year,” explained Elementaree.

“Packaging made of paper and cardboard is a more expensive solution, its cost is on average 20% higher than that of plastic. (…) However, it has been proven that in the production and processing of a paper bag, several times more energy can be spent and one and a half times more harmful substances get into the atmosphere, ”Olga Zinovieva said to Founder Elementaree.

Currently, in Russia, at the legislative level, the introduction of a ban on the use of certain types of non-recyclable plastic waste is being discussed. According to Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko, only 10% of solid waste is recycled, 90% is sent to the landfill.

Elementaree provides customers with quick recipe kits. The service delivers over 100 thousand meals to your home every week.
