New telemetry system will make the Rokot-M rocket significantly lighter

Russian Space Systems Holding (RKS, part of Roscosmos State Corporation) is currently working on the new Astra telemetry system, which is designed to reduce the overall mass characteristics of the new rocket, as well as reduce the cost of its pre-flight preparation. “Astra”, created by specialists of the Scientific and Production Association of Measuring Equipment (NPO IT, is part of the RCC), will be installed on the third stage of the Rokot-M light rocket – the Breeze-KM booster block. This will reduce the number of telemetry systems on board. Astra will work throughout the entire product preparation cycle: from transportation and refueling of the upper stage to preflight preparation and launch – a total of about two weeks.
