The all-new Kia Niro can now be experienced in Denmark Come on dealers.
It must carry on the legacy of a historic bestseller in Denmark.
The Niro PHEV was the model that paved the way for electrified Kia cars, and was the overriding reason why Kia became the best-selling PHEV brand three years in a row. There are no less than 5,664 Niro PHEVs in the Danish fleet.
Now the brand new version of Kia’s popular Niro has been redesigned from the ground up with a wide range of innovative design and comfort features that bring the car to the forefront when it comes to electrified mobility in the compact CUV segment.
At the same time, the all-new Kia Niro crossover has been equipped with a host of useful high-tech features that improve safety, ease of use and convenience for the driver and passengers. Most of these features are available as standard in all Niro models, which in Denmark include a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and the fully electric EV.
Efficient electrified powertrains for everyone
In Denmark, the all-new Niro is available with plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV) and fully electric powertrain (EV), respectively, and continues to give customers the opportunity to choose the electrified solution that best suits their needs.
The Plug-in Hybrid is equipped with Kia’s highly efficient Smartstream 1.6-litre GDI petrol engine and a larger 11.1 kWh battery compared to 8.9 kWh in the previous model. Together, this gives a performance of 183 hp.
The Niro PHEV model’s EV setting has been improved and the car can drive up to 65 km in electric mode, reducing emissions even more and saving fuel. Furthermore, the efficiency of Kia’s 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox has been improved. By removing the reverse gear and using the power of the car’s electric motor instead of the internal combustion engine for hill maneuvers, the new gearbox is 2.3kg lighter and improves overall fuel efficiency by 0.62%.
The new Niro Plug-in Hybrid also features a new 5.5kWh high-voltage heater (PTC), available as standard equipment from the trim level 2 Prestige model, enabling the PHEV model to run longer in pure electric mode in cold weather. It ensures that the cabin in the Niro can be heated exclusively with electricity, so that there is less strain on the internal combustion engine.
Customers who choose the all-new Niro EV with 64.8 kWh battery can look forward to an electric range of up to 460 km. With an output of 204 hp (150 kW) and a torque of 255 Nm, drivers get ahead easily and comfortably in all conditions. Charging the Niro EV is also both quick and easy, and under optimal conditions it only takes 43 minutes. to charge the car from 10-80% with a flash charger.

Completely new innovative features for Niro
You can choose the C-pillar in a contrasting colour, which gives the car an aesthetic design highlight. In addition, the C-pillar also has an important aerodynamic function. The panel includes an “aerodynamic tunnel”, which leads the air down the sides of the car, where it is released via an opening along the rear lights, so that turbulence due to air resistance is reduced.
A completely new but discreet feature, which is elegantly integrated into the exterior design, is the active air damper in the radiator grille, which closes automatically when engine cooling is not required, so that air flows more easily over the front of the car. The active air damper is integrated into both the upper and lower radiator grilles on the Niro PHEV variant and into the lower radiator grille on the EV model. The Aero-C-pillar and active air damper contribute to the new Niro’s competitive Cw value of 0.29.
With efficient mobility as a focal point in the development of the car, the PHEV model is equipped with an intelligent “Green Zone” driving mode (Standard from the Prestige model). Via location data from the car’s navigation system, analysis of driving patterns or manual input from the driver, the Green Zone driving mode activates purely electric driving to eliminate exhaust emissions in selected areas – for example near schools, hospitals or in the driver’s own residential area.
The Green Zone driving mode can also manage the remaining charge on a set route by constantly monitoring and balancing the battery consumption according to the remaining distance, so that the switch between petrol and electric operation takes place in the most efficient way. To increase comfort, an integrated geo-fencing function extends the electric vehicle functionality of the Niro PHEV when driving in European ultra-low emission zones.
Niro EV’s Vehicle-to-Device function (V2D) means that the two-way battery can act as a mobile 3 kW power supply for devices and equipment such as e-bikes or camping equipment. And when you are going on even longer outdoor experiences, the new Niro offers a trailer weight of 600 kg without brakes and 1,300 kg with brakes for the Niro PHEV model, which is suitable for most caravans and trailers, or 300 kg without brakes and 750 kg with brakes for Niro EV.
