New car incentives, who can get them from August 1st and under what conditions

We are almost there: Italy too will have its incentives to revive the demand for cars, one of the economic sectors most affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.

There is the date – from August 1st – and there are finally the conditions to get them both on the cars traditional than on those ibride plug in ed electrical.

Finding the political compromise has not been easy, but in these hours the approval of the Budget Commission has arrived, which should be definitively ratified in Parliament by Monday 6 July.

Let’s see what the concessions consist of and who will be able to access them.

Car incentives for petrol and diesel

The one dedicated to traditional cars is the most discussed provision. This is how it works: those who purchase a new petrol or diesel car from 1 August will benefit from an incentive to purchase 750 euro without scrapping and of 1.500 euro in case of scrapping of a vehicle of at least 10 years.

However, the following conditions must be met:

  • the seller must apply an extra discount on the list price of at least 2,000 euros in the event of scrapping or 1,000 euros without scrapping bringing the theoretical customer advantage to 3,500 and 1,750 euros respectively
  • the new car must not emit more than 110 grams of CO2 / km
  • the new car should not cost more than 48,800 euros

Extra incentives for plug-in hybrid cars

The incentives for electrified cars or if you prefer the Ecobonus, are not new for our market, but an upgrade is planned.

For plug – in hybrid cars from 1st August the incentive will amount to 1.500 o di 2.500 eurorespectively without and with scrapping.

To access the facility, the following conditions must be met:

  • the seller must apply an extra discount on the list price of at least 2,000 euros in the event of scrapping or 1,000 euros without scrapping
  • the car must emit 20 to 60 grams of CO2 / km in a booklet
  • the model list price must not exceed 50,000 euros

Ecobonus up to € 10,000 for 100% electric cars

Finally, there are electric cars, the category necessarily more facilitated of all. Without scrapping from 1 August the eco-bonus will amount to 5.000 euro that rise to 8.000 euro in case of scrapping.

These are the conditions to access it:

  • the seller must apply an extra discount on the list price of at least 2,000 euros in case of scrapping or 1,000 euros without scrapping. The overall customer advantage thus rises to 6,000 or 10,000 euros
  • the car must emit less than 20 grams of CO2 / km
  • the list price of the car must not exceed 61 thousand euros

There is time until December 31st

All those who purchase a car from 1 August 2020 until 31 December 2020 will be able to access the incentives. Like current Ecobonus, both individuals and companies will be able to benefit from it, regardless of the purchase formula and therefore also in the case of financial leasing (long-term rental, leasing, etc.).

However, further details will be available within the next few days.
