An employee of a Leclerc center in Royan (Charente-Maritime) was arrested Monday for theft in the store: he was caught in the act with on him if pairs of sunglasses for an amount of 200 euros tells France Bleu.
The police, during their investigation, conducted a search of his home and discovered nearly 100,000 euros of stolen goods at his workplace.
Lighters worth 70,000 euros, safety shoes, watches, creams, perfume bottles, fire starters, shopping trolley wheels, gardening gloves … The employee had accumulated all these stolen products in reserve during his 20 years working in the supermarket.
The fifty-year-old was released pending the end of the investigation which should lead him to justice.
According to investigators, these 100,000 euros of goods could only be a small part of the loot.
In the meantime, his employer terminated his employment contract: he was dismissed.
