The Office of the Special Prosecutor’s Office (ÚŠP) rejected the complaint of the accused Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) and former Minister of Finance Petr Kažimír against the charge of the crime of bribery. This follows from the opinion of the SAI on the social network.

“On December 20, 2021, the Special Prosecutor rejected the complaint of the accused Ing. PK against the resolution on the charge of the crime of bribery issued by the prosecutor of the ÚŠP, “ the prosecutor’s office states.

In the reasoning of the decision, Special Prosecutor Daniel Lipšic rejected the attempt to question the institution of the cooperating person. “The argument that even the testimony of a direct witness who has no malignant motivation to testify, and his testimony is corroborated by other (indirect) evidence, is not sufficient to bring charges, is unsustainable.” tvrdí.

According to him, it is also in conflict with the case law of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic, but also with recent decisions of Attorney General Maroš Žilinka, in which he used section 363 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

On October 8, the ÚŠP prosecutor accused Kažimír of bribery, who subsequently filed a complaint against the accusation. According to his October statements, Kažimír does not plan to resign and considers the accusation to be unfair. He wants to clear his name.
