Another means of government is to encourage research / development projects in certain areas, so that the “National Laboratories” set up by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology bring together research institutes, universities and industry in a given research topic. Two of the National Laboratories are also run by ELKH SZTAKI.
The aim of the National Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence (MILAB) is to promote and finance publications, patents, technology transfer and industrial relations in key topics related to artificial intelligence, according to a statement issued by SZTAKI. Another important goal is to connect the industrial, university and research institute actors operating in the field, to represent them jointly in market and international projects. MILAB’s research program is in line with the Artificial Intelligence Strategy of Hungary for the period 2020-2030, and implements the key research elements of the strategy.
The channeling of market, social and public administration needs and the following directions are carried out by the MILAB project office in cooperation with the Artificial Intelligence Coalition. The main research areas of MILAB are: the mathematical foundations of MI, deep learning; natural language processing; machine detection; medical, medical and biological applications; biometric applications, data processing technologies for the protection of personal data; agri-food industry; transport; manufacturing and manufacturing; telecommunication.
Another new laboratory belonging to SZTAKI, the National Laboratory of Autonomous Systems, aims to provide efficient and innovative solutions to research tasks related to mobility through the integrated use of Hungarian experts, technical tools and relevant research results. Research / development projects focus on self-driving road vehicles, aircraft, mobile robots and autonomous production systems. The research results and know-how generated by the project are expected to not only increase the added value of the domestic automotive industry and bring together industry and the research community, but also increase the social acceptance of autonomous vehicles by communicating the results.
