Narciso Rodriguez references archive in capsule collection for Zara

A capsule collection designed by Narciso Rodriguez for Zara is available from Zara today, Zara reports in a press release. At Zara’s request, Rodriguez has revived a selection of 25 pieces from his archive, this time on a larger scale.

Rodriguez’s minimalist designs have been worn by celebrities such as Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy for the past thirty years. The designer’s connection with Zara dates back to his days as creative director of Loewe, around the year 2000. He tells Vogue: ‚ÄúZara grew very quickly, and I developed this great relationship with the [Ortega] family. You know, my goal has always been to dress as many women as possible, and Zara does that. So this was a great opportunity for me.”

About the production process of the capsule collection, Rodriguez explains to Vogue: “I gave Zara a list of where the fabrics I was using at the time came from and they contacted all the same factories. If they couldn’t get the exact same quality, they got in some cases better qualities. The fabric research was impressive.”

Due to the large scale on which Zara produces, the materials used have a lower price than they ever had with Rodriguez’s brand. The prices are between 69 euros for a wool bustier and 359 euros for a wool coat.
