MYTH: Little robots that run and jump

Massachusetts Institute of Technology promoted is its robots that look like little predators, so now they master complex terrains better. The shots still look like scenes from some science fiction movie, but we are slowly getting used to the clever machines.

MIT robots imitate the movement of a cheetah, the fastest land animals. The data they receive from the built-in cameras helps them in that, and thanks to that, they maintain their balance better. Thus, four-legged machines can do somersaults backwards, and successfully jump over obstacles that have caused them problems so far.

The information from the cameras is successfully translated into movements, so the terrain no longer has to be mapped in advance. So MIT cheetah robots they have more freedom, unlike hitherto known systems. They will soon be able to get anywhere, which means that, for example, they will serve better in crisis situations.
