My mind was elsewhere

The last part of the season is giving great satisfaction to Romelu Lukaku: for many months he had to fight against injuries and the skepticism of those who no longer believed in him, but since his return to the field the Belgian has found his redemption and is close to reconfirmation.

The attacker was able to give theInter the goals that brought her to the Scudetto two years ago and she learned to live (perhaps as a protagonist) the Champions League final. On Prime Videoin the first episode of the series One for All, Lukaku spoke about himself by retracing the fundamental stages of his career.

“I started when I was 16 and now I’m 30: how many goals I scored. My father was also a professional player but I lived a bit as an outcast and that same anger, deep down, helped me on the pitch” he revealed, before dwelling on his first steps in Belgium: “What mattered, already at 16 at Anderlecht, were my goals.”

Lukaku returned to Inter after a year spent at Chelsea: the experience, the third in total in his entire career with the Blues shirt, was disastrous and threw him into despair. He left Inter as champion and returned at the start of this season to seek reappointment. But even before joining the Nerazzurri, England wasn’t giving him great satisfaction.

From a psychological point of view, the adventure in the Premier League was heavy and for this reason he chose to leave the Manchester United and wear the Inter shirt: “I was no longer happy in England. I wanted something new, I was missing something and so I left. My mind was elsewhere. I felt that I could not evolve myself. I had given. That’s why I left the Premier League and England: because I wasn’t happy anymore.”

The only place to be reborn and finally happy was Milanothe city that welcomed and adored him like a king in the year of the Scudetto: “Then I thought: where am I going now? To Italy! My family is happy here”.
