The two actresses Caroline Hanke and Lena Dörrie go on the hunt for criminals in the new ZDF Friday evening thriller “Mordsschwestern”.

As children in the 80s and 90s, they never watched such TV series as “Derrick”, “Ein Fall für Zwei” and “Der Alte”, as the two told the German Press Agency. The new series “Mordsschwestern” with Hanke and Dörrie as siblings, who solve cases at the Flensburg Criminal Police Office together, will run on ZDF from Friday (September 2nd, 8:15 p.m.).

“As a child, I wasn’t allowed to watch a Friday thriller,” said Hanke (42) of the dpa. “Maybe at my grandma’s. But my father was sitting in the living room punctually when the thriller began. It was a ritual for him.”

Dörrie (40) added: “Sometimes I was allowed to watch ‘Emergency Call’. That was totally exciting. Or ‘Aktenzeichen XY’. Crime was not really my genre as a child, maybe also because of the lack of female investigators. I tended to watch series like ‘Anna’. But one of my first roles was in ‘Der Alte’. Whenever we watched thrillers in the family, it was mostly ‘Columbo’. I also orientated myself a bit to Columbo.”
