Today is exactly ten when the Libyan opposition declared a “Day of Wrath” against the local leader Muammar Gaddafi. After violent protests and shootings at protesters, a brutal civil war broke out, bringing an incredible result. In October 2011, Gaddafi’s regime fell after 42 long years, and he himself found himself on the run, in a completely hopeless situation.
On October 20, the rebels found him hidden in a drain pipe and actually tore him alive. Looking at the footage of his impoverished body, which was broadcast on television stations around the world on the same day, one does not even want to believe how incredible Muammar Gaddafi has spent most of his life.
For example, his outfits were legendary. He changed clothes several times a day, constantly alternating fine, gold-embroidered uniforms with extravagant robes based on Arabic tradition.
Equally popular was his bodyguard, which consisted exclusively of women. They were called Amazons and the demands on them were very strict. They must have been beautiful, well-trained, and completely devoted to Gaddafi – including permission to have sex while he was caring for him.
However, this external presentation of his position should not override the fact that he was a man co-responsible for dozens of terrorist attacks around the world and an uncompromising dictator at home in Libya. Particularly appalling is the case of Gaddafi Foreign Minister Mansur Rashid, who emigrated in 1980, was abducted in Cairo 13 years later and disappeared without a trace. His body was not found until 2014, in the freezer of a villa in the Libyan capital, Tripoli. At the time of the abduction, the house belonged to the head of Gaddafi’s secret service …
