A long round of applause followed by a long silence. A little more than a kilometer at a slow pace between the Colares fire station and the cemetery. Farewell to Marta Louro – to our Marta – who, this Sunday afternoon, went to bury her in a ceremony marked by emotion. Hundreds of flowers, including those from the Presidency of the Republic, tears and applause to honor the life of the young woman who dreamed of being a journalist and firefighter. It was both, she left so many dreams unfulfilled. But she gathered hundreds around her, as a farewell, and she will remain in the memories of all those who shared with her.“Marta was and will always be light”, writes Inês Freire, journalist, while Débora Couceiro, another co-worker, talks about the longing and loss that Marta will miss every day. “The profession is grateful for your professionalism”, tells us Rita Luz, another journalist for whom Marta’s memory will last forever. To her parents, her brother and to all who had the privilege of meeting Marta, CM and CMTV, I express my deepest condolences. Because Marta’s memory will also live in our hearts and in a grant created to reward young journalists. For those who, like Marta, can be an example of courage and dedication.
