There is strong progress in setting up more charging points for electric cars in Denmark.

But despite the increase, there are still significantly more electric cars than there are charging points.

According to the Ministry of Transport, by the end of 2021, there have been 4828 publicly available charging points for electric cars.

That is an increase of 68 percent compared to the end of 2020.

Although there has been a large growth in the number of charging points, there are still significantly more electric cars driving around on Danish roads.

That trend is not new.

In October last year, the Danish car importers were able to report that the installation of charging stations in recent years has not been able to keep up with the number of registered electric cars, which has more than quadrupled over a three-year period.

In recent years, the number of charging points per electric car has fallen from one charging point per four electric cars in 2018 to one charging point per 11 electric cars in August 2021, De Danske Bilimportører stated in October.

In comparison, according to the Ministry of Transport, in August 2021, there were approximately 4,200 publicly available charging points in Denmark.
