More and more wells across the country remain without fuel

After a missile attack on one of the transformer stations next to the Barátság oil pipeline on Wednesday caused a temporary complete shutdown of the crude oil supply to Hungary (and later the supply was only partially restarted, with a much smaller capacity), Hungary’s fuel supply became more difficult. For this reason, Mol, as a wholesaler, informed the operators of independent wells that it was temporarily unable to deliver fuel.

“The restriction of fuel service is a temporary measure and only affects wells and retailers that Mol is not obligated to serve,” Mol announced on Friday. According to the oil company, the measure was necessary to maintain supplies in all parts of the country. According to Mol, the restriction was also necessary because, due to the price cap introduced at HUF 480 per liter, the domestic demand for fuel is still significant.

The Association of Independent Gas Stations (FBSZ) has already indicated that several settlements may be left without gasoline and diesel due to Mol’s move. The organization has repeatedly criticized the price cap system, as it leads to the hemorrhaging of smaller white wells. In its summary on Sunday, the FBSZ already indicated that it would not be able to open the wells in more than a hundred settlements.

On Tuesday evening, the FBSZ updated its list, on which the number of filling stations suffering from fuel shortages only increased. The entire register you can find it at this link.
