Moderna vaccine became available to teenagers in Latvia


On July 30, the vaccination of adolescents aged 12 to 17 with the vaccine produced by Moderna began in Latvia, the Vaccination Bureau told LETA.

As previously reported, on July 20, the European Medicines Agency approved the Moderna vaccine for use in adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17. Side effects seen in adolescents were the same as in adults.

Teenagers from 14 years old do not need a parental agreement for vaccination and can sign up for the vaccination on their own. Other children need parental or guardian consent to administer the vaccine.
