Mitma awards two studies to improve the R4 and the Martorell station

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has awarded for 942,141 euros (VAT included) the drafting of two studies to increase capacity on the R4 Line of Rodalies de Barcelona and Martorell station. The awarded company, Saitec, will have a period of 30 months to prepare the studies.

The first will have to develop an analysis of solutions (study of alternatives) to increase the capacity on the Martorell-Nus de Castellbisbal section, while the second is an informative study of the expansion of capacity and the improvement of the intermodality of the Martorell station.

The objective is to carry out the analysis, design and procedures necessary to incorporate the actions in the Martorell area in the Update of the Neighborhood Plan of Catalonia 2020-2030, a technical and economic document that includes the proposed actions of railway infrastructure and rolling stock to respond to the needs of a growing future demand in the Rodalies network until the year 2030. The aim is thus to improve the flexibility, reliability and above all the capacity of the network.
