Suara.com – Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi stated that the government plans to use an account-based ticketing system or Account Based Ticketing (ABT), which will be implemented in Palembang City, as a pilot project this system.
Minister of Transportation Budi said this breakthrough would be a solution to the problem of the payment system for transportation modes which are still not integrated and some are done manually.
“The account-based electronic payment system in smart transportation is in line with the central government’s implementation plan which will implement MLFF (Toll Roads Without Gates) and JBE (Electronic Paid Roads) which also use an account-based digital payment system,” said Minister of Transportation Budi in a statement. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was written on Sunday (28/8/2022).
According to him, the ABT system is an evolution of the fare collection system (tickets), from card-based tickets to account-based. This means that one card can be identified by its ownership by being registered through the application, so that all user transactions can be recorded and documented.

One of the benefits of this personalization of passengers can be the basis for determining policies and determining government programs, for example in providing special fares (students/veterans/special passengers).
Another advantage of this ABT system is that it helps transportation providers move away from the old ticketing system that involves paper tickets, tickets power stripcash payments, and switching with a smoother journey (seamless).
For operators, such a system is very beneficial due to lower operational costs, compared to card-based ticketing solutions as travel cards require constant reprogramming.
Minister of Transportation Budi said that he proposed that the integration of payment systems based on electronic money could be applied to all transportation operators.
“For transportation operators, the use of this system will make it easier because the revenue collection will increase cashless This means that nothing is scattered and I also propose that this is not recorded with formal managers, but we have many private operators who are immediately included so that this will get better,” he said.
For this reason, the Minister of Transportation, Budi asked for support from all parties in the transportation sector, including the banks that provide this system service.
