In Covilhã, the governor explained that the set of roads that were withdrawn from investments in the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) are going to be executed and already have guaranteed financing.
“On the same day that the PRR was approved, and because a set of roads had already been announced that had to be removed, a resolution was also approved by the Council of Ministers that foresees the construction of the identified roads”, explained the minister to journalists , on the margins of the inauguration of the Beira Baixa Line between Guarda and Covilhã.
According to him, in this resolution “not only the value of the routes, but the timetable” of execution is provided for.
The projects that no longer have PRR funding are the connection between Highway 23 (A23), in Alcains, Castelo Branco, and the border at Termas de Monfortinho (IC31), the new access from Sever do Vouga (Aveiro district) to the A25 / IP5 (IC35), the connection to the IP3 of the municipalities to the south, access to the Alfarelos Railway Terminal and the construction of the IC6 section between Tábua and Folhadosa (Seia), passing through Oliveira do Hospital.
“We are talking about a set of channels that make up 143 million euros”, stressed the Minister of Territorial Cohesion to journalists.
Regarding the IC31, whose investment is 45 million euros, Ana Abrunhosa said that the years 2021 and 2022 are for the execution of the projects, which include an environmental impact study and possible expropriations, predicting that the work will be completed by 2026.
“The timetable is very demanding and it is a good thing that this project came out of the PRR, because all the works in the plan must be completed by the middle of 2026”, said the minister.
For the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, the resolution of the Council of Ministers has the advantage of “identifying the source of financing” and that “annual authorizations” of Finance already exist.
“It is a very good solution that will allow, even, that the projects and the respective works advance before the PRR, because at this moment we already have a legal instrument to start these ways”, he stressed.
