Minecraft map as in reality

Minecraft buildings created by the community continue to delight people.

No, it’s not a photo

The new map created by the user Qwryzu is another impressive example of what is possible with a lot of blocks. The building is called ‘Wales of Amoril’ and represents a customized continental map with snowy mountains, dense forests, winding rivers and lush valleys. The level of detail that Qwryzu put into the making is staggering.

On their Planet Minecraft page, qwryzu explains that making them took four months of work and a lot of practice through the other smaller maps they created. They use the usual software for building Minecraft – World Machine and World Painter – but include, for example, the detail that all rivers are created by hand, which is impressive given the patience required.

The map can be downloaded and played for free. You can see the snowy peaks and follow the winding river and for sure, if you are high enough, it really looks like a photo. Building realistic landscapes in Minecraft is much harder than it seems. The hardest part is making the mountains natural, the curves of the stream, the layout of the forest, but qwryzu did a wonderful job.
