At the military training ground Meža Mackeviči, located in the Vabolsky volost of the Augšdaugava region, this month the planned training of the Home Guard fighters is taking place.
To maintain the combat readiness of various subdivisions of the Home Guards, various training sessions are held at the end of the week with the participation of volunteers and soldiers of the battalions of the 3rd Latgale Home Guard Brigade.
The personnel are constantly improving their shooting skills with light machine guns, as well as anti-tank (Carl Gustav) and other weapons.
In the course of the exercise, the capabilities of the sapper company are being developed and improved: a centralized basic mine-blasting training course is being conducted at the Meža Mackeviči training ground.
During the exercises, military equipment, armed soldiers and military personnel move around the territory of the training ground, as well as training and combat ammunition, equipment for simulating military operations, which produce only noise and smoke, but do not threaten people’s health. Live ammunition is used only in specially designated areas of the Meža Mackeviči training ground.
Important! Local residents are not allowed to be at the training ground during the exercises, they are also prohibited from touching ammunition, ammunition components and other suspicious items found on the training ground. Attention: During exercises in the vicinity of the range, temporary restrictions on the movement of vehicles on public roads may be introduced, as well as traffic in the immediate vicinity of the range.
The National Armed Forces urge the public to be understanding that soldiers and military personnel are moving outside military training grounds and locations of units and not to show alarm when observing the deployment of equipment and other objects, as well as the temporary creation of training positions outside military bases and areas.
