Microsoft releases security patch x exploit PrintNightmare

After reporting the exploit last week PrintNightmare that allows an attacker to take over any Windows print server, Microsoft today released an emergency patch that fixes the exploit.

This exploit gives attackers complete remote code execution capabilities on Windows Print Spooler devices, even with all security patches so far.

Users can now download and install the patch through Windows Update.

In addition, it can also be updated through the Microsoft update catalog by looking for the patch KB5004945.

This patch is mandatory, although so far not all versions of Windows 10 can update.

Microsoft has not yet released the security patch for Windows 10 version 1607, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2016.

What’s more Microsoft will soon release patches to fix the PrintNightmare exploit for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 operating systems
