Prague – The concert of the legendary metal band Metallica ended today at the airport in Prague’s Letňany with a one-day Prague Rocks festival. According to the organizers, almost 50,000 spectators applauded the loud production. Hundreds of other people watched the typical change of tempo and loud production from behind the fence. The concert was accompanied by large transport measures.

The Metallica concert was presented by two reproduced songs – It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll) by the band AC / DC and Ecstasy of Gold by Ennio Morricone from the legendary western Good, Evil and Ugly. The production was accompanied by a screening of spaghetti western footage from 1966. Metallica then released Whiplash, the first single from their 1983 debut album Kill ‘Em All.

Metallica also performed popular songs Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets or Seek & Destroy with the support of projection and pyrotechnic effects. Their most famous song Nothing Else Matters was also present. The song, which the singer and guitarist James Hetfield composed for his wife and did not want to make available to the band at the beginning, because it came too personal, was accompanied by thousands of lit mobile phones of the fans present. In the addition, which was opened by the song Damage, Inc., the audience also saw an impressive fireworks display.

Metallica plays in the Czech Republic repeatedly, most recently in Prague in May 2019, when they offered songs from their new album Hardwired … to Self-Destruct and old hits to an enthusiastic audience at the concert of their WorldWired Tour in Letňany. According to the organizers, approximately 70,000 visitors arrived at that time.

Metallica was founded in 1981 in Los Angeles by drummer Lars Ulrich together with James Hetfield. Her records Ride the Lightning from 1984 and Master of Puppets from 1986 were very popular. The second of them became the first metal album to be included in the National Register of Records by the US Library of Congress. The band Metallica (black album) from 1991 catapulted the band among the music superstars.

The third year of the Prague Rocks festival was opened today by the Ukrainian group The Hardkiss with vocalist Julia Sanina. Then came the young hard rock band from Los Angeles S8NT Elektric, in which the son of guitarist Slash from the band Guns N’Roses London Hudson plays. Subsequent American Red Fang offered a selection of their studio albums, and then the audience was impressed by the Steel Panther, which, according to music critics, combined hard rock virtuosity with parody. They were the last to play Five Finger Death Punch before Metallica, who, with their eight albums so far, has made most metal fans known. Last year’s Prague Rocks festival was to take place on July 2 in Prague’s Eden. However, the organizers had to cancel the event due to anti-pandemic measures. The main star of the second year of Prague Rocks was the American group Kiss and their compatriots ZZ Top.
