No new moments have been added to Nazrul’s memory since 2001. That is why Nazrul has stopped in his memory 20 years ago. As the indigent family could not get treatment, the wrecker spent time chained in a house.

Going to his house on the spot, it was seen that Nazrul was sitting on the ground with his legs chained on the verandah of a broken tin-shed. There are no clothes on the body except pants. A hole has been made inside the house for bathing and drainage of Nazrul while he is wearing chains. However, as the house was raw, the whole house became muddy after bathing. Besides, Nazrul has to suffer a lot in winter as the house is broken.

Nazrul is the second of two sisters and one brother. Father Aynal Dewan and mother Nabija Begum continued their efforts for the treatment of their son till the last chapter of his life. However, the benefits did not match. After their death, the responsibility of the mentally unbalanced Nazrul fell on the two sisters. Despite the will, the family is not able to take care of his advanced treatment due to financial crisis.

Nazrul’s elder sister Kohinoor Begum said that her brother had to be kept in chains due to lack of money. My daughter Ankhi now takes care of her uncle. Officially we are not being given any allowance. Nazrul’s sister requested government help for her brother’s treatment.

Nazrul’s brother-in-law said. Abzal said all their efforts for Nazrul’s treatment had failed due to lack of financial means.

Kaira has treated her brother by working from house to house in Mainz. Ma-dao died two months ago. Who will see the brother, God knows what will happen to him?

Nazrul’s aunt Khodeja Begum said that Nazrul used to beat and harass people and get intoxicated due to his mental imbalance. Financially, it was not possible to get him fully treated. As his pain increased, 20 years ago he was chained to his house with iron chains on his legs. But sometimes he got better and worked. After a while, he went crazy again and was chained. He even tries to hurt his family. That is why he has been chained.

Meanwhile, disability allowance or any government facility has not reached Nazrul’s door in 20 years. The family members and neighbors are also wondering what will happen to the family that has been living an inhuman life in a broken house and has not eaten for days.

Nawabganj Upazila Social Service Officer Mizanur Rahman said he did not know the matter. If he is completely insane, there is no chance to give him disability allowance.
