Mercedes is working on the mid-career restyling of the SUV GLE which, now, is engaged in the ritual tests on the snow in extreme conditions. Our photographers have spotted a semi-camouflaged specimen that, from some details, would appear to be the high-performance version signed by AMG, specifically the AMG 53. At the same time, Mercedes is also testing the Coupé variant of the GLE, with the two models arriving on the market around mid-2022.

Although the car is not very camouflaged, the white color of the bodywork and the snow mask what could be the stylistic innovations: this is what you can glimpse.

What changes inside and out

Being a restyling, the changes aesthetics are minimal, but the most attentive will not miss some important details. First of all, the design of the to do which appears to have been updated both front and rear; the grille (again with vertical slats, like the “Panamericana” AMG) has a slightly different shape on the sides and the same goes for the lower air intakes.

The profile of the GLE has not undergone changes while the rear to change are the optical groups that, now, seem more squared. The interior will also undergo a very light restyling, with the steering wheel having a different shape. On the other hand, the position of the large screen and of the side air vents has remained unchanged which, therefore, will not follow the layout dictated by the latest Mercedes such as S-Class and C-Class.

Under the hood always the six-cylinder mild hybrid

Under the hood, the facelifted Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 is expected to continue to mount the same current engine-transmission assembly, the 3.0 turbo six-cylinder in-line mild hybrid EQ Boost da 435 CV combined with the nine-speed automatic transmission. Traction will obviously be integral, for a sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.3 seconds.
